I purchased this as a substitute for digestive medications, but it has shown results in unexpected areas. I suffer from ulcerative colitis, and since taking it regularly, my stools have improved, and the frequency of my bathroom visits has decreased. It gives me relief in my stomach. Whether it has a systemic enzyme effect or not, it has certainly benefited my gut health in my experience.
